The Power of Recommitted Focus

Recommit defined as make the conscious decision that you will take the daily actions necessary to realize your goal”. I woke up this morning after dealing with horrible cold for several days. These last couple weeks have been a difficult balance of work stress, work out stress, juggling so many items, and general fatigue.

So today I made that decision to refocus harder. I awoke to crystallize a clear mission, purpose, and goal and reach down to again bring out my inner desire.

I watched the Serena Williams You Tube video “Rise” https://youtu.be/t3DpBq9Y4F0 and was inspired more. The more real and visible to goal, the better focus I find.

Albert E. N. Gray, who wrote “The Common Denominator of Success” said, “The single thing that determines success and failure is that successful people develop the habit of doing the things that unsuccessful people won’t do.” In other words, successful people are willing to do the daily actions necessary to realize their goal.

So I have prepared my month schedule and “turned up the dial” in my off-season training. I also have organized and focused my energies on the key item to accomplish. Pinpointing energies allows you to hone in on key achievements and prevents outside forces from interrupting.

The world-famous concert pianist of the early twentieth century Ignace Paderewski once told an interviewer, “If I fail to practice for one day, I hear the difference. If I fail to practice for three days, my friends can tell the difference. If I fail to practice for one week, the whole world knows it.” Paderewski knew the importance and value of daily commitment to practice and action steps to achieve his goals.

Now putting it into action! RECOMMIT!

5 Keys to Physical Transformation

before after

I have been asked a number of times to discuss my physical transformation that started several years ago. I wanted to share what I feel are 5 key qualities to such transformation.

Inherent in your heart. Going through the motions just won’t cut it. You need to feel the fire in the belly (no pun intended) to start the transformation. Tony Robbins always said “Change comes from Inspiration or Desperation” I believe that. You either lose weight to look “better” in your clothes or you just can’t fit in them anymore. You need to crash to the bottom to become determined to rise to the top each and every day.

Gotta do it! Can’t just say it but need to do it. Workout, food, supplements, sleep, everything. Many times I said going start and eat well for 3,4,5 days then crashed again. Consistency is the key. Have to live it and be able to love it! Many of times I feel like crap but still drag myself to get the work in at the gym.

Eating needs to become a machine. The only way to transform your thoughts on food is to look at it as a purpose not a pleasure. It becomes like a car filling gas. Putting in proper fuel to have it run better and drive nicer. Too many people give their vehicles better fuel and treatment than their bodies. I look at each meal now as “feeding time” and a process to keep the body running. This also provides focus.

Celebrate the achievements. There is nothing better than enjoying and complimenting yourself for the steps of the ladder that you accomplished. I prided myself in dedication and appreciation of myself as I transformed. Your body and mind need to understand and process positive thankfulness of your work. This provided me the encouragement to continue. Similar to a baby who is happy on their first steps and want to keep walking. Be good to yourself.

#Fortitude! That is my word. I have lived it, done it and continue to do it. You need to walk through fire and continue to walk as you burn. No excuses. It’s tough, days are good and bad but fortitude to get through and compartmentalize the dynamics in your life are crucial. I was dealing with numerous dynamics in my life as I continued my transformation. I focused to make training a “stable” routine in my unpredictable life. It is amazing what your body can achieve when your mind is relentless.

I look to continue writing about this transformation topic. I appreciate all the comments, thoughts and reflections. Remember #GetFortitude

Launching of the Blog! Here we go…..

business

Hi Everyone:

After about a month of kicking back and forth ideas, I have taken the first step to start my new endeavor or as Best Selling Author Gary Vaynerchuk calls a “side hustle”. Encapsulating all the things I love, do, and want to say in a commercial project. I find this to be a personal recapitulation, honest redemption and true life endeavor.

The first step was to professionally launch my own blog! www.EdwardHaberekJr.com  was a blog project I have worked on during the beginning of 2017 and I’m happy to finally share it here.

After writing blogs, articles, and posting on my social media sites periodically, I felt ready to take it to the next level which allows me to publish more and really reveal my personal, professional, emotional and spiritual endeavors I have been on during my lifetime. In addition, I hope my reflections here will help, inspire and maybe even entertain readers.

My ultimate goal with this blog is to create a platform of expression of reflections, ideas, thoughts and advice on this venture of life. I have had the pleasure to be involved with business, academics, government, fitness, social media and life in general for many years. I look forward to talking about personal and professional matters from the perspective of the “real” person. Not a “wanna be” social media guru, but the practical lessons on this venture called life. The ability to be fall into the largest valley and climb the tallest mountain, and still get up the next day with fortitude! Also, I would love to have others join by including guest writers, to provide even more ideas to help & inspire.

Please feel free to support this blog by signing up to join this blog and sharing with others, I look forward to a wonderful dialogue. Share it with your friends and I hope it will provide value to them too. Look forward to my future website in the making and more information I look to bring you. As, I have always said to my students my courses, “Change results from inspiration or desperation”

Talk to you soon,

Edward

Black Friday & Redemption

Today, 2 years ago I started a massive transition and redemption! It was Black Friday, 2014 when I landing in Seattle to begin a new chapter in my life. Just me, 3 boxes and 3 suitcases to enter my new endeavor. It was what was needed to happen to me.

During this time I have transformed physically, emotionally and spiritually. Physically, as many have you seen, I have pushed my body to never before. Digging deep with fortitude to prepare it for stage ready presence. I competed in Oct 2015 in NPAA BC Championships in Vancouver BC Canada with 1st in Novice, 2nd in Master’s and 3rd in Open. Now, 9 days out for next competition of 2016 OCB Capitol City Classic in Richmond VA. I also this year re-certified in Personal Training. I find building my body, builds my mind. It is an arduous and amazing process to prep and thanks my coach while in Seattle Frankie Rongo and my coaches in Marysville WA., Kevin and Lynda James, I have had wonderful guidance and support.

Emotionally, it has been another process. I have studied a great deal of my faults and mistakes and embraced them to learn, change and redeem. It has been a tremendous process of looking inward, carving out and evolving. I have transformed from my hard shell toward, grew passion and built my core. It is so much healthier with the “foundation” Edward. I look to continue my growth to better myself.

Lastly, spiritually I have reconnected with faith and the “Baby Jesus”. The paths of life are determined by his guidance. I was active in my parish in Seattle who embraced me and was taught so much in helping others. Currently, I enjoy participating in my parish here in Maryland. I have been so blessed in these two years with guardian angels and advice from above. I also been blessed with much success in career, amazing friendships and my love of my family through this.

My goal now is share my learning, processes and resiliency. I find so many others struggling with fortitude, guidance and the will to persevere through adversity. The adversity I created, I needed to evolve from to become a better person. I’m so happy to have such adversities over and many new avenues to pursue. I want to continue here and show more how fortitude can persevere and the techniques to do it.

Birthday Time

Turning 51 years old today.  I’m so blessed with family and friends. Last year at this moment, for my 50th, I gave myself a present to prep for first Natural Bodybuilding Contest which I took 3 awards. This year I am currently in prep for another on Nov. 5th.

My gift to myself this year for 51 years old is to embrace “Redemption” and my transition publically that I accomplished. I want the share the process I have endured and grown from to help others. Many have asked and inquired about my endeavor and I am proud of my work. I look forward to this new avenue. I look to share thoughts, reflections, ideas and strategies to rise from the ashes. Keep watch on my “reinvented” blogbeleive

A New 2016

Thought

After finally settling in and starting my new chapter in my career, I thought I would revitalize my personal blog.

I am pleased and proud of the accomplishments in 2015. Professionally, in my previous position at AIE, I was able to move the college forward with our largest freshman class, renovated classrooms, inspiring graduation, international student preparations and new corporate relationships. It was a privilege to work for such an innovative institution.

Personally, turning 50 years old last year, I enhanced my major transformation which began in 2012 going from 302lbs to 220lbs through diet and training up to late 2014. After my move to Seattle in late 2014, my trainers encouraged me to shred down to do a Bodybuilding show for my 50th Birthday. I trained for the NPAA BC Championships in Vancouver BC my first show ever in October 2015. I came in at stage weight 186lbs since I have 178lbs in lean body weight. I placed 1st in Novice Bodybuilding, 2nd in Masters Bodybuilding and 3rd in Open Bodybuilding. This was a great accomplishment to me in my life. I look forward to continuing and planning for another show this year.

Currently, I am at a great place in life and enjoying my new institution Florida Institute of Technology and position at Site Director & Associate Professor of Business at Maryland Campus. The Florida Institute of Technology, known as Florida Tech, was originally started as training grounds for space industry professionals working at what is now the Kennedy Space Center. But the school also offers undergraduate degree programs in science, engineering, liberal arts, psychology, STEM education and more.

Florida Institute of Technology is unique among Florida colleges and universities in that it offers the resources of a national research institution combined with the robust, personalized learning experiences of a small college; a combination the university calls “High Tech with a Human Touch”. As a result, Florida Tech students experience the rigor of strong academic programs, impactful relationships with expert faculty, and the excitement of a diverse and dynamic campus life. Florida Institute of Technology’s is ranked in the 2016 edition of Best Colleges & Universities

I look forward to continuing updates and interesting perspectives in higher education, business and training

Time to change the rules!

Rules

I have had many comments on my recent competition. When you get older they say you’re supposed to get weaker, slower, lazy, watch Football all day Sunday and be an “old man”.

Time to change the rules!

Life is not a dress rehearsal. You hold the key to your life that unlocks the door to your future. If you worried about aging, take charge of your life and direct yourself on the road you want. Make those important changes, push yourself on the right path and break the chains that hold you back.

Society influences limits for you to adhere to but its bullshit. Time to live the life instead of just a living. Be your own person. Blaze a new path. Follow no one. I personally work hard in my life now to lead by a proper example.

The only way to succeed is to keep moving forward. So take a stand and get up. Fighting the difficulties and keep progressing. You will get there through sheer determination.

Live with fortitude!

Glad to be a spectator

tennisSometimes you’re glad to be a spectator. I still get asked do I miss the position of elective office or politics. NO! I do not. You look at the recent national scene and issues surrounding recent local elections, it brings appreciation not to be in such arena.

I observe the local election in my previous town recently and feel contentment not partaking in such an unscrupulous campaign. Even from the sidelines, I was used as a tool in the touting of fallacy and innuendos just to promote the opposing party. It’s easier than having to produce a constructive platform and solutions to municipal issues. In addition, it’s more advantageous to throw out derogatory statements when you lack ideas. In any event that’s politics nowadays.

This is why many are disengaged with politics as a whole. So many issues that revolve around our communities and nation, while the general public and media focus on the atmospherics of those vying for elective office. I’m sure there are many intelligent, motivated, and creative individuals who would be a treasure to have in leadership positions but don’t want to expose their deficiencies or their life for it. I don’t blame them and it’s a shame. The fishbowl is an awful place.

But, these moments I feel are also a blessing. I am learning that there are situations that you can move on from, provide more insight for your growth and your future. You get to look back to reflect and learn. You also get to move forward with wisdom and excitement. The next challenge ahead.

So appreciate the blessings of different paths and focus your energy on your own path. The ability to release your past and relinquish your resentment allows you to prosper and succeed in the future.

Turning 50 & the Gift

Ed Trophiesed award

It’s here! Yes I turned 50 this past weekend and feel great as I gave a gift to myself. Fitness…. This weekend I have the privilege of competing in the NPAA BC Championships Natural Bodybuilding Competition. I place 1st in Novice, 2nd in Master’s and 3rd in Open for my first show. I was incredibly stoked and it was a wonderful experience.

This journey taught me a great deal. I totally stepped out of my comfort zone and learn more about myself than ever. First, the ability to push your body physically to the limits is amazing. Workouts coupled with tremendous work issues and commitments have you sometimes doubting your ability. But it is remarkable what your body can take.

Secondly, I find the building of your body strengthens your mind tremendously. I utilize this activity to develop my mind and spirit. The growth of both is tremendous to your outlook to handle issues and drama of life.

Lastly, I feel this has provided an insight on a new passion in my life. The transformation and competition fuel my energies and optimism inside me personally I look to share more as my personal journey continues

I still fall on my face sometimes

And I cant color inside the lines

Cause I’m perfectly incomplete

I’m still working on my masterpiece
